New ways of dealing with wastewater possibly part of a solution? DESAH envisaged much smaller local systems that would work much more efficiently (think of biogas, for instance). A prior study found that a DESAH system would already break even at 1200 people, based on the situation in The Netherlands. In areas with no sewer systems, the advantages would be much greater.
